Obituary

It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of John V Curtin of Pelican Bay in Naples Florida, formerly of Wellesley and Osterville on March 20, 2025. John leaves his wife of 52 years, Patricia Griffin Curtin, who he adored. John was the loving father of  John V Curtin lll and William Griffin Curtin and his wife Alicia (Paglia) Curtin. John was a devoted and adoring grandfather to his three grandchildren, Will, Brett and Sloane Curtin.

John was born on December 16, 1946 to Mary and John Curtin. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High in 1964. John was a proud 1968 graduate of Boston College and attended college back in the days when BC was largely a commuter school. John still has good friends from those years of carpooling.

John continued his education at Suffolk University Law School and received his Law degree in 1974.

John was a successful corporate attorney working for Itek Corporation, Nortek corporation and lastly Connell LP of Boston where he rose to the position of Vice President and General Counsel and spent the majority of his working life. He loved his job and did it with intelligence, humor and charm. His sage advice was always welcomed by the company.

After retirement, John and Pat moved to Pelican Bay in Naples, Florida where they were members of the Moorings Golf and Country Club. They enjoyed Naples where their many good  friends from their years of membership at the Wellesley Country Club also moved. They also enjoyed many wonderful summers  in Osterville on Cape Cod for the past 40 years and John was the best host entertaining their many friends and family .

John enjoyed playing golf with friends and hosting dinner parties and weekends at the Cape where he made his famous baked stuffed lobsters, stuffed with extra lobster! One friend,  who had lived all over Europe and Asia, said it was the best meal he had ever eaten anywhere. John loved to tell a good story or a good joke and inevitably became the life of the party.

John was a devout Catholic and loved his family and extended family. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for all the Holidays. He also loved to travel and he and Pat toured the world together.

John is survived by his two sisters, Connie (Curtin) Aaron of Richmond ,VA and Paula (Curtin)  Houston of North Andover, MA. He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn (Curtin) Quinn of Amherst NH.
