Obituary

Worcester – Robert W. Tinsley, 89, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at Christopher House of Worcester on Friday, March 21, 2025, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years.

Bob was born in Worcester, son of the late James and Margaret (McGarr) Tinsley. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Marie (Provost) Tinsley, who died in 2002; a son, Paul O. Tinsley, who died shortly after birth in 1969; and three brothers, Francis Tinsley, Paul Tinsley, and Edward Tinsley.

He is survived by two sons, David W. Tinsley of Holden and John J. Tinsley and his wife Rebecca of Princeton; a daughter, Diane M. Ferriter and her husband James of Leominster; a brother Joseph Tinsley of Auburn; 1 grandchild, David W. Tinsley Jr.; 2 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Bob worked at the former Worcester State Hospital for over 30 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan and could always be found watching whatever game was on. He also enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for his family.

He loved animals, and later in life enjoyed all his granddogs. In his final years, he had a special bond with Gracie, who would visit with him weekly at Christopher House.
The family would especially like to thank Muhammed at Christopher House for the attention and care that he gave Bob.

Private funeral services are being held at Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester, and Bob will be buried alongside his wife in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515 or through their website, secondchanceanimals.org.
