Maria Lucia (Castro) Villa, 89, of Lowell, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 16, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Jose D. Villa, with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage.
Born on January 7, 1936, in Medellín, Colombia, Maria grew up and was educated there before making the United States her home nearly 20 years ago.
Maria had a passion for cooking and baking, filling her home with warmth and the comforting aromas of her favorite recipes. She also loved music and singing, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
She leaves behind her seven children: Horacio Villa of Colombia, Adilma Osorno and her husband Alejandrino of Lowell and Colombia, Beatriz Villa of Colombia, Eunice Villa Castro of Lowell, Alonso Villa of Colombia, Fernando Villa of Florida, and Elquin Villa of Lowell. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Maria is also survived by her siblings: Bernarda Castro of Colombia, Blanca Castro, and Luis Castro. She was predeceased by her brother, Marco Antonio Castro.
