James Allan "Jim" Posey
January 24, 1947- March 18, 2025
James Allan "Jim " Posey, 78, of Anderson, passed away March 18, 2025 at Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on January 24, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Lawrence and Freida (Harris) Posey.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Anderson High School and served in the US Army. He then was employed as an electrician with Guide Lamp for 30 years. He was a member of UAW 663, Fellowship Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Madison County, American Legion. In his younger years , Jim loved to fish, hunt, bowl, and play softball. He was an avid history buff and was an at home Jeopardy Champion! He loved to watch his grandsons play sports, enjoyed talking and telling stories with all his grandchildren. Known as "Papaw the Grinch" at Christmas he always made sure his family had a great holiday. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by the love of his life, Linda (Engle) Posey, whom he married November 12, 1988; six children, Shannon Posey, Erin (Stephen) Adkins, Julie Dworek, Shon Silvey, Jason (Jenn) Silvey, Krista (Kevin) Demick; 13 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Don (Vickie) Posey; sister, Diana Posey; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Virginia) Engle and Bill Engle; several nieces and nephews; and many friends he enjoyed breakfast with on Mondays at Frisch's Big Boy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Orwick and US Navyman, George Posey (MIA).
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Brad Storm. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will also be held on Monday from Noon until the service. The Fellowship Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM to be followed by the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
