Robert T. Osler of Needham died August 12, 2006 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 69. Born in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Samuel and Emily (Hyde) Osler. Mr. Osler graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He went on to have a long career as an electrical engineer for GTE in Needham. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was the beloved husband of Catherine A. (Morrison) Osler. He was the devoted father of Thomas Osler and Tracy Andersen both of Belmont, William Osler of South Attleboro, Barbara Capozzo of Boylston and Brian Osler of Boston. He was the step father of Jacqueline Giller of Simi Valley, CA and David Van Laeys of Temecula, CA. He was the loving grandfather of Abigail and A. Robert Andersen and Step grandfather to Kayla, Benjamin and Jonathan Giller, Luke and Dawson Van Laeys. He was the brother of Josephine Murphy of Deptford, MD, Samuel Osler of Bethesda, MD and Lawrence Osler of Gloucester, NJ.
His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, on Thursday at 9:00 AM. His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Needham, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
