Obituary

WEBSTER – Olga M. (Zemsky) Markiewicz, 99, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Care One in Millbury after a period of declining health. Her husband of over 40 years, William J. “Willie” Markiewicz, died in 2001.

She leaves 2 daughters, Marianne Morin and her fiance Roy “Buzz” Geiste of Longs, SC, and Karen Betty and her husband Jean-Paul Betty of North Grosvenordale, CT; 4 grandchildren, Matheau Betty and his wife Tiffany of Charlton, Justin Betty of Webster, Carolyn Arnold and her wife Alysha of Thompson, CT and Mary Morin and her fiancée Miranda Casamassa of Little River, SC; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaxen, Lucas, Emily, Konnor, Parker and Autumn; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Glenn Morin in 2016 and by her 9 siblings.

She was born on January 18, 1926 in New York City, a daughter of Philip and Mary (Mischenko) Zemsky and raised there. She moved to Webster in 1960.

Mrs. Markiewicz worked in the cafeteria at Bartlett High School and then Webster Middle School, retiring as the head cook in1996.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club and of the Polish American Veterans Auxiliary.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 24, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Sunday, March 23, in the funeral home.
