Sudershan Kumar Taneja, 87, of Burlington, MA, passed away on March 13th, 2025, at his home. Born on July 12th, 1937, in Ahmadpur Sial, India (pre-partition), he was the son of Tirath Das and Satwanti Taneja.
Sudershan earned degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. He emigrated to the United States, settling in the Boston area in 1969 where he wholeheartedly embraced American culture with his literal love of baseball, hotdogs and apple pie. Simultaneously, he would bring it back to his roots with his North Indian culinary talent. He worked, grew his family and enjoyed life to the fullest over his 56 years in this country. He will be remembered for his endless thirst, or "lazzat," for knowledge, his generous spirit and his love of Americana.
His love for his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews was unconditional. He is survived by his wife, Indu; his daughters, Vandhna (Behnam) and Saira (Saurabh); and his grandchildren, Anushah, Rohan, Zubin, Irianna, and Sanam. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Hindu ceremony will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery Crematorium at 171 Walk Hill Street, Boston, on Monday, March 17th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by cremation. There will also be a pooja held at the family home in the coming weeks offering blessings to the departed soul - details to follow.
