Missett, Ann M. (McGowan) of South Boston, passed away on March 9, 2025 after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Devoted daughter of the late James A. and Virginia “Chickie” McGowan (O’Donnell) of South Boston. Loving wife of Dennis J. Missett, beloved mother to Dennis J. Missett Jr. & Katie Donovan, the late Eileen E. Missett and Elizabeth A. Browning (Missett) all of South Boston. Cherished grandmother aka “Peeps” of Andrew and Owen Missett and Molly Ann Browning, all of South Boston. Devoted sister to James A. McGowan and his wife Marcia of Westwood, and Martin E. McGowan and his wife Patricia of Quincy. Ann is also survived by many greatly loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ann was proud to be from South Boston, in fact she loved to tell people that her grandchildren were the sixth generation to grow up in the same family house on Broadway. Her lifelong dedication, devotion, and support to St. Brigid Church was unwavering. Ann attended the Nazareth School and continued her Catholic education at Cardinal Cushing High School. Ann went on to have a career at the MBTA, first as a bus operator followed by various administrative roles. But Ann’s true calling in life was to be a mother and a grandmother, “Peeps” did so with the utmost love and care. Ann adored her grandchildren and showered them with her love, affection, time, sense of humor and generosity. It is truly a void that will be impossible to fill.
