Obituary



Richard “Chad” Mercurio, 74, of Cranston died Thursday March 6, 2025, at his home, with his family by his side, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Florio) Mercurio. They had been married for 54 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Felix and Catherine (Solefski) Mercurio. He had been a resident of Cranston for 36 years.

Chad was a toolmaker/machinist for Jewel Case Manufacturer in Providence for 40 years. Chad enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and an amazing husband. He will be deeply missed by his loving family whom he left an indelible mark on, as well as everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will live on through his surviving family members. His daughters, Lisa Grasso of Burrillville, Lori Bailey and her husband Yuriah of South Lake, Texas and his 4 grandchildren. Alexandra Pontarelli of Cranston and Braden, Mckenzie and Kellan Bailey of South Lake, Texas. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Petras.

His funeral service will be held Friday March 28th at 11:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday morning, 10:30-11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The American Cancer Society.
