Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Sexeny at the age of 93 on Sunday March 9, 2025. John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 14, 1932, in Cambridge, John grew up in Somerville, MA and later Belmont, MA and was a graduate of Babson College class of 1953. A longtime resident of Wellesley, MA & Falmouth, MA he spent the last 23 years of his life as a resident of Winchester, MA.

John was predeceased by his parents, Leo & Olga Sexeny and wife, Grace (Pachus) Sexeny. He is the beloved husband of Joanne Hofmann Sexeny of Winchester, MA, loving, devoted father of Stephen Sexeny of Wellesley, MA, Lauren Sexeny of Ashland, MA and Denise D’Entremont and her husband Gary of Norfolk, MA.

John took great pride and enjoyment from his grandchildren, Brielyn Sexeny (Nathan) Rae, Nicholas Sexeny, Danny & Bobby D’Entremont and his great grandchildren, Dillon, Gordon, Piper and Levi Rae.

John is also survived by his sister, Helen, (Sam) Tasho of Mansfield, MA and brother George, (Maryellen) Sexeny of Port St. Lucie, FL and many nieces and nephews.

For many years John was the owner-operator of Orchid Dry Cleaners in Newton Highlands.

In addition to the joyous times spent with his family, John was an avid and accomplished golfer, learning the game at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown and for the past 50 years as a member of his cherished Wellesley Country Club. He took great pride and pleasure playing golf with his children, grand-children and many beloved friends at WCC. He also loved the wonderful staff that he interacted with on a regular basis.

John also had a deep love and many great memories of his summers growing up in Nantasket and then as an adult in Falmouth. Later in life he enjoyed his many years of travel with Joanne.

John had a deep love for his family and many friends. He was also proud of his Albanian Orthodox heritage and a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Church of South Boston. Known for his hard work ethic, generosity, and character, John never sought the limelight and was admired for his loyalty, kindness and unwavering support of others. A true gentleman.

A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Wellesley on March 12, 2025, from 4-7PM. His funeral will be on March 13, 2025, at 10:00AM, also at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home.
