WEBSTER – Barbara A. (Cape) Roy, 88, died Sunday, March 9, 2025 in UMass/Harrington, Southbridge, with family at her side. Her husband of 32 years, Edward M. Roy, Sr., died on March 9, 1993.
She leaves 2 daughters, Justine A. Bond and her husband Wayne, and Melissa A. Faucher and her husband Matthew, all of Webster; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; a brother, John H. LaHair of Los Lunas, NM; a sister, Patricia A. Carlberg of Webster; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Edward M. Roy, Jr., by a grandson Dennis Ferschke, by her sister Janet Sjoblom and by her daughter-in-law Theresa Ferschke.
She was born on February 23, 1937 in Worcester, the daughter of William M. Cape, Sr. and Christine F. LaHair, and raised in Auburn. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1955. She moved to Webster in 1961.
Barbara first worked as an assistant office manager at Garden Beef in Worcester. She was then employed in the payroll department at B & W Footwear in Webster and later at Webster Spring Company in Oxford, retiring in 1997.
Mrs. Roy was a member of the Webster Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo. She liked to play different games on her laptop. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace.
