Gaetana Castellano, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on March 8th. She was 88. A native of Leoni, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Camoia.
Gaetana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She came to the United States in 1975 and she and her husband Vincenzo made their home in Medford. Shortly after arriving here she got a job at Schrafft’s candy factory in Charlestown, but her longtime career was working in quality control for Forecaster of Boston, a clothing company. At home she kept herself busy. She loved to share from her garden and from her kitchen. She was passionate about feeding her family and friends the bounty of both. Her pasta dishes were delicious and she delighted in making cookies for her grandchildren.
The beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Castellano, who passed away in 2001, she was a devoted mother to Francesco Castellano and his wife Carmina, Tony Castellano and his wife Alba, Mario Castellano and his wife Beatriz, and Michael Castellano and his wife Rebecca. She was a loving grandmother to Gabriella, Anthony, Amy, Marco, Luca, and Valentina.
