Worcester – Barbara J. Degon, 75, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 in the Jewish Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side.
Barbara was born to Joseph and Margaret (Donahue) Degon on September 13, 1949. She is survived by her four brothers, Robert Wesson, Gerald Wesson and his wife, Mary, David Wesson and Joseph Degon and his wife, Joyce. Barbara is also survived by nieces and nephews.
She worked for 50 years at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester as a patient transporter. She loved doing her job every day and loved all the people that she worked with on a daily basis.
Barbara graduated from the former Saint Peter’s High School in Worcester, class of 1967. She always looked forward to her trips to Florida and California to spend time with family.
She was a country music fan and had a collection of over 500 cassettes, you could say she was old school, LOL. Barbara was an avid ten pin bowler and played in many leagues. She could often be found reading a book on her NOOK, which gave her many hours of enjoyment. Barbara loved watching her soap operas, especially the Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jewish Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Saint Vincent Hospital for the wonderful care, love and respect that was given to Barbara and her family during her illness.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 3 to 6 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 PM during the calling hours.
