Shirley M. (Cobbett) Jacob, 74, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts died on March 5, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1951, daughter of George Cobbett and Althea (Pratt), she graduated from Rockland High School and completed nursing studies at Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. As a proud Navy wife, she lived in many places due to her husband’s service in the U.S Navy. She made many lifelong friends along the way. She settled in Carver, MA for over 30 years and moved to a retirement community in Bridgewater in recent years.
She was a registered nurse and spent over 20 years at South Shore Hospital.
Being “Nana” to her five grandchildren was her most cherished role. She was the fun and adventurous Nana, always creating special memories- whether it was camping in Cape Cod, taking a surprise trip to Disney, or spending countless summer days swimming in her pool. Her love and warmth made every moment special for her family.
She was also a dear friend to many, known for her infectious laugh, kind heart, and ability to brighten any room. She formed many lifelong friendships and was always there to lend a helping hand, enjoy a glass of wine, and bring joy to those around her.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Don Jacob. Loving mother of Russell Jacob and his wife Ruthellyn of Arlington, Renee Patenaude of Middleboro, Rachel Stearns and her husband Richard of Middleboro. Nana of Ella and Quinn Jacob, Mia and Marcus Patenaude, Allison Stearns, and "Bonus Nana" to Julia Thorndike. She is survived by her siblings George Cobbett, Lynne Botelho, and Alan Cobbett. She was also “Aunt” to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service, on Thursday, March 20th from 4- 6 pm, with a 6 pm prayer service at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street, Whitman. Burial will be private.
