WILBRAHAM – Edward J. Knight, PhD, 68, of Wilbraham and a longtime resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on April 13, 1956, a beloved son of the late Edward L. and Jacqueline L. (Cardinal) Wieczorek. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Classical High School in Springfield and had lived in Springfield for most of his life. He furthered his education and received two Master’s Degrees and his Doctorate Degree in religious studies. He was a Police Officer for the City of Springfield and retired in 2011. He was an Auxiliary Support Chaplain with the Coast Guard, and Civil Air Patrol Chaplain at Westover Air Force Base. He leaves his life-partner, Jacquelyn A. Wheeler of Wilbraham, her son, Adam Wheeler and his wife, Elyse and their children, of Westfield and her daughter, Karlie Wheeler of Agawam. He also leaves his two loving sons, Jonathan E. Knight and his wife, Kelly, of Springfield, and Philip L. Knight and his wife, Katlyn, of Wilbraham; his five cherished grandchildren, Aiden Perkins, Jonathan Knight, Landon Knight, Emmett Knight, and Russell Knight; his sister, Judi Cecchetelli of Southwick; his brother, Joseph Wieczorek and his wife, Angie, of Baltimore, MD; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Ashley M. Knight who was Called Home on April 20, 2024. The services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
