Mrs. Joan M. (Hardy) Verrette, age 94, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family on Saturday evening, March 8, 2025. Joan was the devoted and loving wife of the late Ernest J. Verrette.
Born in Massachusetts on August 24, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert M. and Harriet G. Hardy. Joan became a Registered Nurse at the age of 20 years old and had been employed by the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and spent the final 26 years of her career as the Head of Nursing at Phillips Andover Academy. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed visiting the beach, reading, watching all sports while being a devoted fan to the College of The Holy Cross. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren which she proudly coined as “The Fab Five”. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her loving sons; Robert Verrette of Andover, Keith and his wife Lisa Verrette of Andover and Glenn and his wife Laurie Verrette of Newbury. Proud and loving Nana of Carly DiVittorio, Maxwell, Zackery, Tyler and Maggie Verrette.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the mass, from 10 to 11 AM.
