Alice Vera Burroughs Tanner, 93, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Mrs. Tanner will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Tanner’s grandsons, Bryan Thompson, Heath Thompson, Ben Tanner, Jed Tanner, Zack Tanner, Trent Doss and Rusty Bromlow will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. David Johnson, Bobby and Janice Newell, Carl and Debora Hall, Carol Ireland, Horace Gray and Damon and Teresa Griffin.
Born January 24, 1932, in Banks County, Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of the late L. J. Burroughs and Luetishie Wade Burroughs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Tanner; one son, Paul Tanner; one grandson, Jeremy Tanner; one brother; and two sisters. Before retiring, she was the receptionist for Dr. Don Smith and Dr. David Johnson for 38 years. She was a loyal member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God
Mrs. Tanner is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Brenda Tanner of Ty Ty and John and Lois Tanner and David Mark and Melinda Tanner, all of Tifton; two daughters, Peggy Tanner Blacker and Iris Tanner Sears, both of Tifton; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
