Estelle Sapp Furr, 97, of Enigma passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Cone and the Rev. Jeff Abell officiating. Mrs. Furr will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born November 15, 1927, in Tift County, Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late John Kelly Sapp and Carrie Luke Sapp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Malton “Bo” Furr; one son, Robert, Lavern “Shorty” Furr; two brothers, W. H. Sapp and J. W. Sapp; and three sisters, Ivey Cone, Scrappy Dillard and Jackie Childs. She retired as Enigma Postmaster after 20 years of service; and she was a member of Enigma Congregational Christian Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and The Kitchen Band of Tifton’s First Methodist Church.
Mrs. Furr is survived by one daughter, Virginia Furr “Jenny” Merritt; her grandchildren and their spouses, Lee Burgess, Candy Burgess and Sandy Burgess, all of Tifton, Jody and Jessie Key of Pensacola, Florida; and Wade and Ashley Harnage of Ashburn; her great-grandchildren, Nicki and Heather Key, Tripp Burgess, Taylor Burgess, Shane Scott and Melissa Scott (Steve Lovett); and her great-great grandchildren, James Lovett and Blake Lovett.
