ROCHESTER ---- Paul Wallace, 85, of Watercress Drive, passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Paul was born on February 27, 1939, in Malden, MA, the son of Francis and Irene (Plourde) Wallace.
He enjoyed sailing and building sailboats. For 20 years he and his wife, Sandra, had a sailboat moored in Wells, Maine. The first boat he owned was a Boston Whaler named “ToDad”. This was a Christmas gift from Sandra and his daughters, it had a giant gift tag on it “To Dad”. From there he built several small sailboats that he would take to area lakes. In recent years, he built model sailboats and raced them in Wolfeboro’s Back Bay. He built a beautiful wooden canoe that he and Sandra would launch locally.
He loved his dogs. He had many over the years. After retirement, his Shelties Sailor and Pirate, went many places with Paul including on his sailboat to Prince Edward Island where he and Sandra vacationed many times. His most recent dog, Tobi, continued the tradition of accompanying Paul.
Paul was a welder for his entire career. Known as “The Welder”, he was sought after for his expertise. He was a hard worker, always the first one in and the last one to leave any job. Even after he retired, he would weld, doing projects he enjoyed such as fabricating boat railings. He had connections to a local marina where he would work on special projects and teach welding to any of the technicians who were interested.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra (Dahl) Wallace, daughters Eva Hamel and her husband David of Tuftonboro, NH, Sarah Niven and her husband Michael of Yulee, FL, and Virginia Young and her husband Matthew of Tuftonboro, NH, and his beloved grandchildren Eileen Niven, Elizabeth Niven, Jacob Hamel, Landon Young, Julia Young and great-grandchild Ernest Pepin and his dear dog, Tobi. In addition to his parents, Paul is predeceased by his favorite Aunt Lolly and his much-loved Shelties Sailor and Pirate.
At this time there will be no services.
