In Loving Memory of
Douglas Stanley Urbanowski
With heavy hearts, but full of gratitude for a life well-lived, we honor the memory of Douglas Stanley Urbanowski, a humble and gentle soul who welcomed all with kindness and warmth. He passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at the age of 51, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that will be forever remembered.
Doug was born in Sutton, MA, the second of three sons of Stanley and Claire (Hisoire) Urbanowski. In addition to his parents, Doug leaves behind his brothers Tim Urbanowski of Sutton, MA and Dennis Urbanowski of Puyallup, WA, a nephew Timmy Urbanowski in Germany, and a beloved niece Taylor Anne Urbanowski. He also leaves aunts and uncles, Ernest and Rose Girardin, and Edward and Denise Ste. Marie of Shrewsbury, MA, and several cousins.
Doug was born with many challenges that might have held back most, but not Doug. In spite of his obstacles, he thrived and defied the doctor’s predictions about what he might never do or accomplish. With his bright and sunny disposition he persevered, and never complained or asked, “why me?”
As a little boy, Doug believed that everyone was his best friend, and his boundless joy was exceeded only by his exuberance to try new things and never quit until he learned the task at hand. An eager sports fan, he was a walking encyclopedia of statistics, and his knowledge of all genres of music and old movies was like an information database.
Doug had a special relationship with his parents, and he cherished his Mom, making her coffee, sitting and talking for hours, always checking in with her if she needed anything, and was a supportive and helpful son. His Dad was his buddy, and they were shadows of each other, always together.
But most important of all to Doug was his faith in God, and his desire to teach others about the hope found in the Bible with a promise for a better life someday. His favorite scripture was Romans 10:14 “…how will they put faith in him about whom they have not heard…” Doug’s faith was steadfast, not just in words, but in action. He was an integral part of the Oxford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he dedicated his life in baptism on November 28, 2015. Always seeking to be helpful to others, he worked hard at various privileges at the Kingdom Hall, and his efforts were recognized when he was appointed as a Ministerial Servant on February 6, 2024. He most recently had the opportunity to participate in a special Ministerial Servant’s training seminar, and it was truly a highlight of his life. He shared every detail with anyone who wanted to hear about it, and his beaming smile expressed his appreciation for the chance to be a part of it.
Doug was absolutely beloved by his spiritual brothers and sisters, and he took it upon himself to warmly greet every person who walked in and asked them how they were doing. He became such a welcome fixture in the foyer that if Doug wasn’t there to greet you, it felt like something was missing. The loss of Doug has had a profound impact on his whole congregation and neighboring congregations as well, as his presence was a blessing to them all.
Though our hearts grieve, we take comfort in the same promise that Doug loved to tell others about, that of the hope of the resurrection and eternal life on a paradise earth. His faith never wavered, and his love will continue to shine in the lives he touched.
