Orlando Silva, 59, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at his home in the Back Central Street Neighborhood, following his mother, and leaving behind a family who meant everything to him. His mother’s passing earlier this year left a profound mark on him—her absence weighed heavy on his heart.
Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Mateus Silva and the late Laura Silva. He came to the U.S. with his family in 1971 at the age of six. He grew up in Lowell, where he attended local schools and graduated from Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School.
Orlando had a gift for humor—he could steer any conversation into laughter, lightening the mood no matter the situation. He was a simple man in the best way, happiest when surrounded by family, sharing a laugh, and making sure everyone else was taken care of before himself. He was truly selfless, always putting others first, whether as a devoted son, a caring brother, or a loyal friend.
For many years, he worked as a drafter at Eastprint in North Andover before dedicating himself to caring for his parents and uncles. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony’s Church, Orlando lived his faith through his kindness.
He leaves behind his siblings: Fernando Silva, Manuel Silva and his wife Virginia Cebrak of Dracut, Carlos Silva and his wife Robin of Lowell, Mario Silva of Lowell, Filomena Silva of Pawtucket, RI, Arnaldo Silva of Goffstown, NH, David Silva and his wife Diane of Dracut, and Laura Pargas and her husband Stan of Hudson, NH. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will forever cherish his warmth, humor, and unwavering love. His presence will be missed, but the joy he brought to those around him will never fade.
