Liuda Waingortin
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
Liuda Waingortin, formerly of Milton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on
February 28, 2025, at Carmel Terrace in Framingham. She was a woman of strength,
love, and unwavering devotion to her family, faith, and heritage.
Born in Lithuania, Liuda emigrated to the United States with her parents, her sister Vita,
and her brother Algis following World War II. She settled in Dorchester, where she met
and married the late Dr. Ernesto Waingortin. Together, they built a beautiful home in
Milton, where Liuda raised her children with deep pride in her Lithuanian roots. She
lovingly passed down cherished traditions, from the intricate art of Lithuanian Easter
egg coloring to the beloved Christmas Eve celebration of Kucios, ensuring her family
remained connected to their heritage.
Affectionately known as Mociute by her grandchildren, Liuda was the heart of her
family—a devoted, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In
addition, she was an exceptional cook, treating her family to wonderful meals, including
her famous blueberry muffins and roasted duck.
Her warmth extended beyond her own home, as she was also deeply committed to her
Catholic faith. She served proudly as a Eucharistic Minister at Milton Hospital for many
years, bringing comfort and compassion to those in need.
Liuda and her husband, Ernesto, shared a passion for travel, exploring more than 50
countries together. She also found great joy in her summer home at the Belmont Beach
Club in Harwich, where she embraced the ocean, treasured the stunning views from her
condo, and relished swimming in the sea. Summers at Belmont were filled with laughter,
love, and countless memories shared with family and friends. She was well known for
her quick wit and her infectious joy on Saturday nights, when she could often be found
dancing the night away.
Liuda is survived by her three children: Lina Blumberg of Miami, Florida; Ernest
Waingortin of Hudson, Massachusetts; and Edgar Waingortin of San Francisco,
California. She also leaves behind two beloved daughters-in-law, Lee and Barbara, as
well as seven cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with several
nieces and their families. Liuda was predeceased by her loving sister, Vita Hodges, just
a few weeks ago.
Liuda’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and spirit will live on in all
who knew and loved her.
A funeral Mass will be held in her honor at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 350 Reedsdale Road,
Milton, Massachusetts, at 10:00 am on Friday, March 28, 2025, followed by burial at Forest Hills
Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Liuda’s memory to Sarah’s Village, an
