Virginia “Ginny” (Donovan) Grinley of West Roxbury, formerly of Lecanto, FL and Dorchester (Savin Hill), MA passed away on March 1, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Grinley. Devoted mother of Michael Grinley of Boxborough, and Elizabeth “Beth” Young and her husband Paul of West Roxbury. Dear sister of Phyllis DiMarzio and her husband William of Concord and the late Catherine Throckmorton, and Mary Coombs. Daughter of the late Michael and Jane (Murnane) Donovan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ginny was a graduate of Cathedral High School of Boston. She was a highly respected and dedicated Legal Secretary for many years and built a reputation for her meticulous attention to detail and her commitment to her work.
Ginny’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness made her the heart of her social circle. She had a talent for working with her hands and spent hours knitting cozy scarves and hats, quilting beautiful baby blankets and making her own greeting cards. Each project reflected her creativity and thoughtfulness.
Visiting Hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, on Saturday, March 15th from 9:00am to 10:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre Street at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
