Sean R. Gannon, 43, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home after a 2 year battle with cancer, on Wednesday, March 5th surrounded by his loving family. Sean leaves his twin sons, Michael and Matthew Gannon; his father Robert D. Gannon and his wife Maureen of Worcester; his mother, Bonnie L. (McCauley) Gannon of Holden; his sister, Jesslyn Paquette and her husband, Christian of Holden; two nephews, Braeden and Bennett Paquette; his beloved dog, Daisy; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
The twins’ mother, Michelle Gonyea, predeceased him in 2022.
Sean was born in Worcester on October 2, 1981. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from South High School. Sean was a gentle soul, easygoing and kind. He was a true lover of animals and nature, later sharing that love and respect with his own boys. He was very creative, liked to work with his hands and was also extremely gifted when it came to drawing.
Growing up, Sean always had several pets at a time, his bedroom being a mini-zoo of sorts. He enjoyed backyard camp-outs and roaming the neighborhood with his friends. Exploring the dunes and tide pools during family trips to Cape Cod fostered a deep connection with the ocean and the nature surrounding it. Later in his life he lived down the Cape, where he worked as a plumber. Eventually, he found himself, along with the twins, once again living in the same Webster Square neighborhood he grew up in.
Sean will be remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He was fiercely loyal and protective of his family. Sean's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
Calling hours will be on Monday, March 10th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11th beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street Worcester MA, 01606.
