Obituary

David A. Barney, 59, of Worcester died Wednesday, March 5th at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his spouse and best friend of 37 years, Mindi Carpinelli; four daughters, Carolyn Ewing and her husband, Imari of Marlborough, Tiffany Zayas and her husband, Xsabiel of Leominster, Breanna Kucera and her husband, Jerry of Worcester, and Victoria Sanders and her husband, Devin of Fall River; a brother, Dwayne Barney of Worcester; two sisters, Lisa Barney and her husband, Bill of Shrewsbury, and Julie Barney and her husband, James of Oxford; five grandchildren, Sophia, Katie, Isabelle, Lilliana, and Elena; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his niece, Nicole who donated her kidney to him. He was deeply grateful for the extra years this gift gave him.
Born in Worcester, the son of Ralph and Barbara (Bocash) Barney. David graduated from Millbury High School and worked as a truck driver for Integris Metals for several years. He volunteered at Our Lady of Fatima Church and All Saints Church, giving his time to serve his community. He also had a passion for coaching and enjoyed volunteering with Connie Mack Little League, where he coached his daughter’s softball teams. Above all, David cherished the time spent with his family.
David will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and devotion to his loved ones will forever be remembered.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday, March 9th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
