Obituary

Anna Sheahan - December 13, 1926 — March 1, 2025

Anna Sheahan passed peacefully at home in Burlington MA, surrounded by loved ones, on March 1, 2025 at the age of 98. A life-long resident of Arlington MA, Anna moved to Burlington in her 80s to be closer to family. Predeceased by husband John (1991), daughters Ann (1986), Eileen (1983) and Joni (2007) (Eric), Anna leaves behind devoted daughter Barby and sons John and Paul (Carole) who gave her the greatest gift of a home surrounded by love.

Anna was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Matt, Erica, Kelly, Brian, Brooke, and Brendan, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Anna was also a proud great-grandmother to Oliver, Blake, Drew, Neila, Silas, and Zephyr, who brought her immeasurable joy and laughter.

Known as "Grammy" to everyone, Anna was a selfless soul who always placed her family and others above herself, demonstrating unwavering love and sacrifice throughout her life. Her great sense of humor carried her through the trials and tribulations she faced, and her infectious laughter was a balm to those around her. Anna’s ability to listen and encourage people of all ages made her a treasured confidante and friend. She had a kind word for everyone, creating an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance wherever she went.

In her later years, Anna was surrounded by family and friends who provided her with much joy and laughter, enriching her life in profound ways. The family extends special thanks to all who brought her happiness and comfort during her final days and beyond; your kindness and love were greatly appreciated.

A private celebration to honor Anna’s life and legacy will be held later in March. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna’s memory can be made to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance Donate Here. While their search for a cure will come too late for her daughters she always hoped for a cure for future generations.

Anna will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her sharp wit, generosity, and compassion will remain in our hearts forever.
