David E. Brennan, 59, of Woonsocket passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Monday March 3rd, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence he was a son of the late Daniel and Zelia (Cavaco) Brennan.
David was the beloved husband of Celeste R. (Pontbriand) Brennan for 34 years.
David is also survived by his children Jessica, Sarah, Matthew and his fiancé Sarah Jane Cook. Dave was the brother of Douglas(Linda). He was predeceased by his brothers Daniel Jr, Donald, and Dennis Sr. He was the brother-in-law of Ofelia and Jennifer. David was the son-in-law of Leo Pontbriand and his late wife Pauline. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was raised in Bellingham, MA graduating class of 1983. David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps with honor and distinction. Following his service, David subcontracted to the army traveling to many posts. His favorite was his time in Eagle River, Alaska and he carried a lifelong love for its untamed beauty. In his next chapter, David charmed everyone as a sales professional.
A classic and antique car enthusiast, he also enjoyed fishing, especially his annual "man-cation" fishing trips to upstate New York. In his later years, he became a coin and watch collector eagerly sharing his passion with friends and family. David could be counted on to to be passing out 50-cent pieces at family gatherings or any time he had visitors.
David had a deep love for animals and was a proud ‘dog grandpa’ to his cherished grand pups, Rhody, Remy, and Buck, who brought him endless joy. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, David's greatest love was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
All are welcome to gather to honor and remember David at visiting hours on Friday March 7th from 5:00-8:00 pm at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. A service of remembrance for David will be held at 7:00 pm during visiting hours. David will be laid to rest in a private service at a later date.
