Jean Marjorie (Sprague) Tubman, 93, of Continental Road, Greenville, passed away peacefully at Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Neil B. Tubman for 68 years until his passing in 2018.
Born in Providence, she was the eighth of twelve children of the late George Augustus Sprague Jr. and Gladys May (Potter) Sprague. She was preceded in passing by her brothers George (Russell), Earl, Raymond, Robert, Donald and Norman, and her sisters Louise, Dorothy, Marion, Virginia, and Barbara.
Jean is survived by her daughters Gail D. Dunbar of Taylors, South Carolina, Susan E. Williams and her husband Ronald of Johnston and her son Ronald N. Tubman and his wife Gina of Greenville. She was also the mother of the late Karen Jean Robitaille. Jean was the loving grandmother of 14, great grandmother of 21 and great, great grandmother of 2.
Jean enjoyed her time as an activity coordinator at the Dora C. Howard adult day care center in Greenville before retiring in 1994. She was an active member of the Pawtuxet Baptist Church and Smithfield Senior Center where she had many friends and enjoyed travelling and visiting with friends and family.
At Jean’s request the funeral and burial will be private. Kindly, no flowers.
