WEBSTER – Carolyn D. (Ledoux) “Carol” Gatto, 86, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 after an illness.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ernest F. Gatto, Jr.; her 2 daughters, Cheryl A. Nowlan and her husband Donald; Rhonda Podell and her two sons, Jeffrey Gatto and his wife Yvonne and Robert Gatto; she also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Brian, Shawn, Matthew, and Kayla. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Ledoux.
She was born in Dudley, the daughter of Joseph A. and Flossie (Allen) Ledoux, and moved to Worcester in 1952. She graduated from South High School in 1957.
Carol and Ernie met and married in 1960. They moved to Webster in 1965 where they raised their family.
Mrs. Gatto worked for the public school system in Webster before starting the craft store “Mrs. G’s” in Webster for a short period. She retired in 2020.
She loved to paint ceramics and tend her yard and garden. She loved to sit in her garden and enjoyed watching her Japanese maple tree change with the seasons.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the medical staff at UMass/Memorial Medical Center for their compassionate care of Carol during her hospital stay. They would also like to thank the staff at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester for their thoughtfulness and compassion.
A time of visitation will take place on Sunday, March 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster. The burial will be private. The family requests that flowers be omitted and instead donations in her memory be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
