Janice V. (Vickery) Kane, 76, of Hanson, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Born on June 7, 1948, in Boston she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia (Conly) Vickery. Raised in Weymouth, Janice graduated from Weymouth High School.
Having spent childhood family vacations at Sebago Lake, Maine, Janice grew to love water skiing and boating. Sebago was her happy place. After purchasing a cottage, her and her husband Doug continued to spend summers at the lake. Janice also had a passion for music and a great love of dance. She could often be found dancing up a storm at the Surf in Nantasket.
Janice had a successful 30 year career as a Staff Director at Nynex. She was highly regarded for her professionalism and dedication. It was at Nynex that she met her future husband Doug. They were married in 1987 and lived in Plymouth 19 years.
Janice and Doug enjoyed traveling and explored many destinations. Among their favorites were several Caribbean Islands and Italy.
In 2003 they built a home in Hanson where they have lived for the last 22 years.
Janice was a loving and devoted wife. She loved her entire family deeply and she was the glue who held everyone together. Her love for her animals was unmatched. Her many cats and dogs through the years were loved unconditionally.
Janice’s husband and family loved her dearly and her passing has left a huge void in our hearts. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live on in all our hearts.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas Kane, and her two beloved step-daughters, Kristen (and her husband, Jason Macrae) of New Hampshire, and Stephanie Kane and her husband Lee of Connecticut. Janice leaves behind her sisters, Sharyn Charron (and her husband, Leo) of Florida, Darlene Laneau of Plymouth, as well as her brother, Jonathan Vickery (and his wife, Paula) of Texas and her sister-law Susan Vickery of Hanson. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who were very important to her and who she loved spending time with.
She was predeceased by her beloved brother Dana Vickery of Hanson.
Family and friends are invited to honor Janice’s life during visiting hours on Thursday, March 6, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church, 214 Main Street, Hanson.
