Shirley Dean “Dizz” Mumau, 90, of Commodore, PA passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Embassy of Hillsdale Park in Hillsdale, PA.
The son of Dio “Spurgeon” and Flay Zoella (Gromley) Mumau, he was born on February 3, 1935 in East Run, PA.
Dean was a 1953 graduate of Green Township High School.
On April 10, 1954, he wed E. Joan Shabbick and they shared almost seventy-one years of marriage together.
Dean was employed for over twenty-nine years at McCreary Tire and Rubber Company in Indiana, PA, where he worked as a press line operator until 1985. For the next ten years he worked side by side with his son, Doc, as Doc and Dean’s Remodeling before he retired.
Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman. One to strictly abide by the hunting laws, there was no game Dean would not hunt when it was in season. He had also been a member of various local hunting clubs.
A dedicated family man, Dean was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, E. Joan Mumau of Commodore, PA; his three children: Randy “Doc” Mumau and fiancé, Mary Ann Evanick of Commodore, PA; Linda Putt and husband, David of Commodore, PA and Mark Mumau and wife, Christine of Maine and his six grandchildren and their families: Shannon Thorton and husband, Phil; Magen Buterbaugh and husband, Thomas and their son, Carter; Josh Putt and wife Stephanie and their daughters: Harper and Chloe; Deana Vasbinder and husband, Douglas and their son, Jayden and daughter, Paige; Zachary Muman and wife, Jade and their son, Jamison and daughter, Ruby and Shelley Pak and husband, Inbo and their sons: Manny and Nathan.
Dean was the last surviving member of his immediate birth family.
He was preceded in death by his, parents; his daughter, Brenda Mumau on December 31, 2021; his infant son, David Bradley Mumau in 1961; five sisters and six brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the assistance of the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA.
