It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Queen, Judith Eileen Byrnes on February 27, 2025. Judy is survived by her husband, James, their three children: son James Jr. and his wife Maritza, daughter Beth and her children Katelyn Marie and Mary Virginia, and son Eric and his wife Jen. Judy is also survived by her four siblings, John, Margaret, Maureen, and Patrick, her brothers and sister’s in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Judy was born on June 8, 1959 in Boston, MA to John Gordon Ridgway and Eileen Hartigan Ridgway. As a 1977 graduate of Franklin High School, Judy married James Frederick Byrnes on September 24, 1977, in Bellingham, MA.
She was a proud resident of Uxbridge, MA for the past forty-one years. Judy’s love for books led to a twenty-five-year career as a Library Technician at the Uxbridge Free Public Library, in their children’s section. She spent her time bird watching, hiking, kayaking, and enjoying everything nature has to offer. Her love for the outdoors grew during her frequent vacations to Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine, where they built their second home. Judy was an avid animal lover, ranging from her dogs and cats, to nursing wildlife back to health.
Family, friends, and others are invited to the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home at 33 Cottage St. Franklin, MA, 02038, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 to honor the life of Judy.
