Obituary

Carol L (Mulno) Colmer, 96, died after a period of declining health on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

She was born in Rutland, VT, the daughter of the late Herbert L. Mulno, Jr. and Carolyn (Bell) Mulno. She was the wife of the late William W. Colmer for 53 years before his passing in 2012.

Carol was raised in East Chelmsford before her parents moved to Tewksbury in 1944 to open the Wamesit Turkey Farm. She graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1946 and from the Chamberlain School of Retailing, Boston in 1948.

An active and lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lowell, she had served on many committees both there and in the former Paint and Powder Club of Greater Lowell.

She worked in several retail settings until the early 1970s when she began supporting her husband in his family’s business, Colmer Monument Works in Lowell.

Carol spent summers in Saco, ME after her marriage, enjoying many enjoyable years there with family.

She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Leslie (Colmer) and Jeffrey Estrella of Tewksbury and her grandson, William J. Estrella, of North Yarmouth, ME.

She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mildred C. Mulno of Tewksbury and Eileen Krenzer Mulno of Washington, DC, her nephew H. Lincoln Mulno, IV, nieces Susan Mulno, Sarah (Mulno) Ambrosio, all of Tewksbury, and Amanda (Mulno) Craig of Winterport, ME, as well as their spouses and families.

She was the sister of the late H. Lincoln Mulno, III and the late Bruce D. Mulno, and sister-in-law and best friend of the late Shirley E. Colmer.

According to her wishes, calling hours will not be held. There will be a receiving line from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6th, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 260 Gorham St., Lowell, preceding her funeral service at 10am. A private burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Building Fund at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 260 Gorham St., Lowell, MA, 01852.
