SACO- Fred (Ted) Reny Jr. passed away at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on February 26, 2025, surrounded by family following a prolonged illness. Fred was born on July 11, 1942, in Westbrook, Maine, to his parents, Fred Sr. and Beryl Reny. He was an alumnus of Westbrook High School.
He is deeply mourned by his devoted partner of 23 years, Delsie Reny, with whom he shared a love of dancing, hunting, and numerous cherished experiences. Throughout his career, Fred held various positions, including roles in woodworking, employment at S.D. Warren, and medical transport services. An accomplished ballroom dance instructor, he earned several accolades for his skill. Additionally, he was a distinguished hunter and outdoorsman, holding notable fishing records. Fred was of reserved speech yet abundant in remarkable endeavors.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and The American Legion. Fred took great pride in crafting detailed handmade wooden replicas of World War I and World War II aircraft, generously sharing his creations with others.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred Sr. and Beryl Reny, and his stepson, Raymond Freeman.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Delsie Reny; his sisters, Peggy and Susan; his two daughters; his stepson, Dana Jr., and his wife, Lisa Freeman; his grandchildren, Alexander, Michelle, Mariah, and Savannah Freeman; his mother-in-law, Marguerite Cartonio; as well as several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jerry, their nurse from Southern Maine Hospice, for his exemplary care of Fred, They also express sincere appreciation to the staff of the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their exceptional and compassionate support during this challenging time.
