Charlotte Kay Morris, 77, died on February 28th, 2025 at her home in Fitzgerald Georgia following an extended illness.
Kay was born on April 1, 1947, in Irwin County. Her parents were Leon Roberts and Thelma DeBerry. She grew up in Fitzgerald and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1965. While in high school she played the trombone in the Fitzgerald Marching Band. In September 1965, Kay began attending college by commuting to ABAC in Tifton Georgia with her future husband Don Morris. She graduated on June 19th, 1966 with a Certificate in Secretarial Science.
Kay started working at Red Raines’s Record/Barber Shop on Pine Street early in the year until her husband returned from Vietnam in November 1967. Kay then became a happy housewife. For several years in the 1980s, she was a Volunteer Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center. Kay loved those years working in the gift shop and helping people in the hospital.
Surviving family: Husband of 59 years Don Morris of Fitzgerald; sister, Gail Ross of Fitzgerald; brother, Jimmy & Sylvia Roberts of Alapaha; sister-in-law, Ann Morris Lewis of Chattanooga, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 8th, at 3:00 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Danny Gay officiating.
Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald was in charge of arrangements.
