Obituary

Georgette T. (Tremblay) Mendonca, 83, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully,with her family by her side, on Friday, February 21 at the Hillsborough Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. She was the widow of the late Manuel F. Mendonca, her husband of 63 years, who passed away in November.

She was born on July 15, 1941 in Lowell and was the daughter of the late Victor J.Tremblay and the late Daisy Rose (Lessard) Tremblay. She was raised and educated in Lowell.

She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church and currently Holy Family Parish at St. Marie’s Church where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

As a young woman she worked in the Lowell Shoe Shops and later in life she worked several jobs. She had her cosmetology license and her CDL and drove a bus. She also worked on the line as an assembler with Raytheon for many years. Although she had many various careers, her true calling in life was that of a wife, mother and a “Memere”. Georgettes children and grandchildren were her passion.

She loved to cook, dance, enjoyed music, trips to the beach and watching older movies on TV. Children always brought a smile to her face. She enjoyed the summer months in her later years,spending time on the boulevard at Motorcycle Night, enjoying live music or just having an ice cream at Heritage.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Daniel M. Mendonca and his partner Karen Green of Haverhill, MA. Manuel F.V. Mendonca of Tewksbury, MA and Jason V. Mendonca of Salem, NH. One daughter Suzette M.Singster and her husband Brian of Derry, NH. She also has 7 grandchildren Kaylee Mendonca, Corey Mendonca, Brittany Fletcher, Alyson Mendonca, Nicole Mendonca, Celina Singster and Peter Singster. She is also survived by her 6 great grandchildren,Kaydance,Carter,Madison,Aubree,Wesley,and Theo,and many nieces and nephews.She is also survived by her brother in-laws Joseph Mendonca and his wife Maria, and Anthony Mendonca.

She was predeceased by her son James J. Mendonca who passed away November 13, 2024 and her granddaughter Brianna D. Singster (1999). She was also the sister of the late Raymond Tremblay,Roland Tremblay,Leo Tremblay,Rene Tremblay,Robert Tremblay,George Tremblay,Madeleine (Tremblay) Sword and Marie (Tremblay) Grenier

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 4 - 8 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. Her funeral will begin on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her funeral mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 30 Grafton Street, Lowell. Procession will follow for burial at St. Patrick Cemetery on Gorham Street in Lowell.
