Philip M. Cunningham
Retired Electrical Engineer
Philip M. Cunningham, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for 54 years, formerly of Wakefield, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday evening, February 26, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Maureen C. (O’Donnell) Cunningham, with whom he recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on February 15, 2025.
Born in Stoneham on August 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Cyrus Cunningham and the late Doris (Crouse) Cunningham. Son-in-law of the late John F. O’Donnell and the late Edna (Logan) O’Donnell.
Phil was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School. Following graduation, he attended Northeastern University, where he earned a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was employed as an electrical engineer by the Raytheon Corporation as well as the Ferrite Components Company of Chelmsford & Nashua NH until his retirement.
Phil enjoyed hiking, tennis, skiing, traveling with his wife to Naples, FL and loved playing golf at area courses, especially Stow Acres.
In addition to his wife Maureen, he is survived by two sons, Michael P. Cunningham and his wife Elizabeth “Beth” of Tewksbury and Christopher S. “Chris” Cunningham, of Nashua, NH: three grandchildren, Sarah, Sean, and Megan Cunningham. Phil was the brother of Lucia Wyeth, of Raleigh, NC and Marvin Cunningham and his wife Patricia, of Windham, NH. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 5th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by a procession to Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury for a graveside service.
