A funeral celebration will be held at Crossview Baptist Church on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 4 PM with Pastor Dusty Stoey, Rev. Tommy Land, Jr., and Pastor Larry Davis officiating. Her Grandson, Joel Stapleton will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Mrs. Carol Faye was born on March 4, 1940, in Wilcox County Georgia to the late Walter Tillman and Faustine Guest Hunter. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Tom Stapleton. Together, they raised their family and enjoyed a lifetime of hard work and active service to their Lord and their church, Crossview Baptist Church. She was also a proud member of the Fitzgerald High School Class of 1958 and was retired from GTE. Many will remember Mrs. Carol Faye for her service to the children and young people of her church and community and for her genuine southern cooking. She loved nothing more than sharing her cooking with others. She was a faithful supporter and fan of the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes, Jacksonville State University Gamecocks, the Georgia Bulldogs, and her favorite and much-loved Atlanta Braves. She never missed a game.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Greg Stapleton of Fitzgerald and Mark & Tammie Stapleton of Tifton. Also surviving are her beloved grandson, Joel Stapleton and his wife Ashley, and great grandsons, Will Stapleton and Sam Stapleton, all of Gadsden Alabama. Many cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members and close friends also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers Walter M. Hunter, Wayne L. Hunter and Calvin D. Hunter, and many other extended family members and friends. Mrs. Carol Faye deeply loved her family and friends.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to Hospice Care Options of Ocilla and to very special friends, Jesse Carroll and Sheila Horn.
Paulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald is in charge of arrangements.
