David J. Bowles (Ret. B.P.D) age 87, of Scarborough, ME, formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. He was the husband of Jean I. (Johnson) Bowles.
Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late George and Jane (Poirier) Bowles.
David served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He had a distinguished career with the City of Brockton as a Police Officer from 1968 to 1996.
Mr. Bowles moved to Lawrence in 1956 and after his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Brockton.
He enjoyed boating, gardening, and was a member of Club National, where he served as past president.
Besides his wife Jean, he leaves his children Sandra Costa and her husband Michael of Bridgewater, Cheryl Meacher of Taunton, Janet Thetonia and her husband Frankie of Rhode Island, Beth Giesta and her husband Pedro of Rochester, NH, and Danny Norton of Mexico; his siblings, Patrick Bowles of Hudson, and Janet Wyman of Bryantville; eight grandchildren, Eric, Mark, Melissa, Jamie, Raichel, Tiago, Olivia, Robert, and Robert; eight great grandchildren, Addison, Weston, Sienna, Mia, Carter, Brianna, Marky, and Jack. He was the grandfather of the late Samantha and brother of the late Robert Bowles and Winnifred Sapienza.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment with military honors will follow at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
