Alexander F. Lemmi passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 24th at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. He was 95. A lifelong Medford resident, he was the son of the late Galliano and Jennie (Cognata) Lemmi.
Alexander was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. As a young man he began working at Jordan Marsh as a stock boy. He then went off to serve his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Afterwards, he came back to Medford and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Boston University. He also returned to Jordan Marsh, where he worked for over 50 years, ultimately working in sales and management. He was great at his job and enjoyed friendships with his co-workers.
A true entertainer, Alexander sang, played the guitar, string bass and electric bass, and was sought out as an emcee. He was part of the house bands at Montvale Plaza and the Chateau de Ville. He had a great wit and he was always ready with a joke, thanks in part to his collection of books on humor. Alexander was at home on the water and he was a life member of the Riverside Yacht Club. He often went deep sea fishing on his cabin cruiser. When not at home in Medford, he could be found at his cottage in Effingham, NH, where he and Lucy entertained family and friends.
The beloved husband of Lucy R. (Dimino) Lemmi, he was a devoted father to Josie Penza and her husband John, Janet McGuire, Paul Lemmi and his partner Roberta Cimino, and the late Alexander J. Lemmi, who passed away in 1993. He was a loving grandfather to Eric, Ashley, Joseph, Evan, Alexandra, Kristina and her husband Michael Ferrante, Julia, Alex, and Nicolas.
He was a dear brother to the late Tina Palladino.
