Ryszard Barglowski, age 70, of Johnston, RI, passed away on February 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poland, Ryszard grew up on his parents’ farm and later served in the Polish Army. In 1984, seeking a better life for his family, he immigrated to the United States, where he was naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Ryszard worked tirelessly as a truck driver and metal polisher for All State Fabricators in Cranston, RI for 36 years until his retirement. He was also the proud co-owner of The Java Joint in Johnston, RI for four years, a place where he cherished meeting new people.
Ryszard is survived by his loving wife Urszula of 47 years. He was devoted to his family, and his greatest pride was his children: his son Mariusz Barglowski and wife Karen, daughter Elizabeth and husband Stephen (Petrangelo), daughter Monica and husband Nick (Bucci), and daughter Lori and husband Jan (Hilfer). He was the best "dziadzi" to his grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Barglowski, Luke and Jordan Petrangelo, and Davin and Christopher Bucci, who adored him. He is also survived by his brother Wladek Barglowski and sister Joanna Brajczewska of Poland.
To know Ryszard was to love him. He was a hardworking, dedicated, compassionate and selfless man who found joy in helping others. A true "jack of all trades," he could fix cars, build home additions, and tackle nearly any project. He was always social, with a smile on his face, and happiest when spending time with his family. He also treasured visits to New Britain, CT, where he enjoyed time with his sister-in-law Agnes Sulewski and her family. Ryszard had a natural ability to teach, and took great joy in helping raise all six of his grandchildren. From teaching them how to walk and ride bikes to showing them how to hold tools properly and tend to a garden, his influence will never be forgotten.
Ryszard's faith was unwavering, and he was an active parishioner at Saint Adalbert’s Church in Providence, where he volunteered his time regularly and served as an usher during Sunday mass.
Ryszard’s family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 2nd, 1pm to 4PM at the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, 2 Church St. Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 3rd, 10AM at Saint Adalbert’s Church, 866 Atwells, Avenue, Providence, RI, followed by burial at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery , 959 Nooseneck Hill Road, West Greenwich, RI.
