Carolyn Hodgdon Cassidy, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Manchester, NH on February 22, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Wilson) Hodgdon. She graduated from Pinkerton Academy, class of 1952 and was a lifelong resident of Derry.
Before retiring, Carol was employed by the Derry Cooperative School District for 25 years. She was a past member of the Pinkerton Academy Alumni Association Executive Board and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
Carol loved sports. She was a great basketball player and played for The Derry Pin-Ups in the 1950's. Even opening for the Celtics at the Boston Garden. Her love for all Boston sports teams was strong. Tom Brady could do no wrong!
Carol loved her home, working in her flower garden and loved her dogs that she had adopted through the years. She loved knitting for her grandkids and great grand children. She loved to read and loved music. She loved to bake. Anyone who knew her, knows that her love for chocolate was fierce! Her smile was always shared with everyone that she met. Most of all, Carol loved her family and friends. Her kids came first and had her whole heart. We all know how much she loved us. She lived a beautiful life with kindness and grace, right up to her last day.
Carol is survived by two sons; Michael ( Bethany) Cassidy, of Hampstead, NH, Dana ( Lisa) Cassidy, of Hudson Ohio; one daughter; Sharon (Tim) Forbush of Manomet MA; Six wonderful grandchildren, 7 great grand children, several nieces nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, James F. Hodgdon, Jr in 1975.
Calling hours will be held at Peabody Funeral Home & Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH on March 3, 2025 from 5pm - 7pm. A graveside service will be held at the Forest Hill cemetery in East Derry, NH. Time and date will be determined by family.
