Dorothy L. Tibbetts (Avinelli) of Medford passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old. Beloved wife of the late Herbert E. Tibbetts Sr. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Corrado and Virginia (Mizzoni) Avinelli.
Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She dedicated her life raising and caring for her family, and enjoyed her special trips to the casino with her mother and sisters. Dorothy loved to be around her family for cookouts and holidays. She loved to cook and did it so well.
Dorothy was the devoted mother of Virginia Tibbetts and Herbert E. "Gino" Tibbetts Jr. both of Medford, Sandy Tibbetts of Winchester and the late Richard Tibbetts, formerly of Tewksbury. She was the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was the dear sister of Vilma Winn of Lexington, and the late Elsie Frasca and Joan Bridge. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Dorothy will be held in Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, MA, on Friday, February 28, from 4-7:30PM, with a funeral service beginning in the funeral home at 7:30PM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be private.
