Kevin Francis Hamrock of West Roxbury, formerly of Jamaica Plain, age 71, passed away on February 23, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was the cherished second of seven children of the late James and Mary (Walsh) Hamrock. Loving husband of his devoted wife Meina Luan. Beloved brother of James Hamrock, Maureen Donahue, John Hamrock, Dr. Michael Hamrock, Claire Hamrock, and Kathleen Downey. Brother-in-law to Paul Donahue, Deirdre Breen, and Joseph Downey. He was predeceased by his sisters-in-law Marian and Ann-Marie Hamrock. He is survived by his son Brian of Hyannis and his stepdaughter Jessica Devine of California. Also, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kevin enjoyed growing up in a large, close-knit family surrounded by the community of Blessed Sacrament, where he attended grammar school, participated in sports and scouts, and reveled in the camaraderie of dozens of neighborhood friends. Kevin was a 1971 graduate of Boston Latin School and a 1976 graduate of Northeastern University.
He was a brilliant civil engineer who led an adventurous and accomplished life, including overseeing engineering projects in Dubai, Libya, Australia, and New Zealand as well as his beloved hometown of Boston.
We will remember Kevin for his kind heart, warm smile, great sense of humor, and love of family and friends.
Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, on Saturday, March 1st at 10:00am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Private. Visiting Hours Friday, February 28th, from 3pm to 7pm in the Funeral Home.
