BROOKFIELD-Caroline A. (Finch) Jordan, 76, of Brookfield, formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 10th in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital. Her husband of 48 years, Robert L. Jordan, Sr. died in 2000. She leaves a son, Robert L. Jordan, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie Savasta of North Grafton, 2 daughters, Barbara A. and her husband Glenn C. Tuley of Melbourne, FL and Nancy L. and her husband Ronald E. LaPlante of Worcester, a sister, Margaret Shaw of Walterboro, SC, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A sister, Avice Finch predeceased her.
She was born in West Haven, CT, the daughter of Leonard E. and Katharine H. (Becker) Finch. Caroline lived in Auburn for 28 years before moving to Brookfield in 1981. She was a member of the Naval Reserve Unit of the Waves. Caroline co-owned the Auburn Business Service with her husband for over 25 years and worked for the former A.B. Dick Products of Worcester for 28 years. After retirement, she worked for the former Bloch New England for 4 years. Caroline volunteered at Memorial Hospital from 1993-1999 and received an award for 1000 hours of service. She was a longtime member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Worcester where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served on various committees and was active in Tabitha’s Closet. Caroline was a member of the United Methodist Women. Her role as a mentor in her church involvement continues to perpetuate her strong faith and God’s work. Caroline’s life was renewed 14 years ago after a successful liver transplant. During this time, she participated in multiple research protocols to advance the success in the field of liver transplantation. Caroline savored the rest of her life, living each day with zest and gratitude. She and her husband were active members of the Friends of Clark Athletics and avid spectators, especially enjoying and supporting men’s and women’s basketball games. Caroline enjoyed summers with her family at Cape Cod for over 50 years. She enjoyed reading, spectator sports and her cat Mollie.
The funeral is Tuesday, August 15th with a service at 10:00 AM in Aldersgate United Methodist Church 1048 Main Street. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, August 14th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
