Kathleen L. (Furlong) Puliafico, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years of age.
Kathleen was born on September 20, 1936, a daughter of the late Joseph R. Furlong and Catherine L. (McLaughlin) Furlong. She grew up in Charlestown, where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Mount Trinity Academy in Watertown. For over 40 years, Kathleen worked as a secretary for the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #17, retiring in 1997. A proud Townie, she was also a dedicated member of the Daughters of Isabella #1 and the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls' Association.
Kathleen is the devoted mother of Jean Marie Halley and her husband Steven, and the late John F. Puliafico. She is the loving Nana of Adam Halley and his fiancé Courtney Malcolm, Justin Halley, and Cate Halley. She is the dear sister of John Furlong and his wife Maura, and the late Bernard Furlong and his surviving wife Mary Lou. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Not a day went by without Kathleen expressing how much her children and grandchildren meant to her – her family was undoubtedly her greatest achievement. She cherished her grandchildren above all else, taking immense pride in each of them. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, and she always made sure they knew just how special they were to her.
When Kathleen wasn't spending time with her family or taking care of her grandchildren, she could be found at the beach. Whether it was escaping the cold winter months to St. Pete’s Beach in Florida with friends from Charlestown, or vacationing in Aruba, Kathleen loved warm weather and beach vacations.
A comfort to many and a joy to all, Kathleen will be greatly missed—she was fiercely independent, incredibly strong, and showed kindness to everyone she met.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kathleen's Funeral on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
