HOLLIS- William “Bill” Thiele, age 72, passed away on February 20th, 2025, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, after battling pancreatic cancer for one short month. Bill was born on May 7, 1952, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and moved to
Newport in 1959 with his parents and older sister. After graduating from Nokomis High School in 1970 he attended the University of Maine to study mechanical engineering. Bill was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. In 1974, he married Vickie (LaBonte) Thiele, and they moved to Portland, where he had several long-term jobs at Blue-Rock, S.D. Warren, and Portland Press Herald. Bill was a member of the Hollis Fire Department as well as served as a scoutmaster for Hollis Boy Scout Troop 323. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time on the lake at the family camp in northern Maine. Bill was a generous man who was always willing to jump in and help anyone who was in need. He loved working on small engines, oftentimes, having several projects going at once. You could always call or stop-by and he was more than willing to help troubleshoot any engine problem!
Bill is predeceased by his parents- William S. Thiele and Mildred A. (Thomas) Thiele, sister- Patricia (Thiele) Rowe.
His love lives on in his wife Vickie, his children- son Christopher and his wife Marissa, and their children William and Olivia, son Jeremy and his wife Stephanie, and their children Claire and Jake, and his daughter Amanda Thiele.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 4th from 5 - 6 PM followed by a time of sharing at 6 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
