Donald "Donny" Silva Jr., 62 of Coventry, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 20, 2025 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Cindy-lou (Miller) Silva for 33 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Donald Silva Sr and Barbara "Bunny" (Brabant) Silva of Rehoboth, Mass.
Donald graduated Dighton/Rehoboth High School in 1980 and went on to enlist in the Army with a tour in Germany. After serving his country, he spent his life working as a carpenter full-time during the week and performing odd jobs for friends and family on the weekends. Anything that needed to be fixed, you could count on Donny to do it. He worked with Smiley Development for 15 years and most recently he was employed by Design Fabricators in Cranston. Donald was forced to retire in 2023 due to illness. He enjoyed watching old War Movies, Westerns and setting up his model trains.
A devoted husband and father, he loved spending time with his family and always kept them laughing. He loved going to local county fairs and vacationing with them in the White Mountains of NH and Maine, enjoying all that the outdoors had to offer. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children Harry Elgar Jr., his wife Jessica, and Grandson Skylar Elgar of Woonsocket, Joshua Silva of Coventry and Meagan Silva of Coventry.
He also enjoyed the companionship of the family dog Kotah who was always by his side.
He also leaves his brothers Mark Silva and his wife Vivian of Warren, David Silva and his wife Karen of Rehoboth and Jason Silva and his spouse Michael of Arizona. Along with several nieces and nephews and their families.
Family and Friends are invited to join us at a committal service with Military honors to be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald D's Career, Trade and Technical Scholarship Fund.
