James (Jimmy) Cavaca, 85 of Tiverton passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Newport Hospital.
Jimmy was born in Tiverton, son of the late Frank and Josephine (Pearce) Cavaca. He worked on building the Newport Bridge and later made his living as a quahogger on Narragansett Bay. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. His favorite past time was shooting the breeze with his friends at the Tiverton Beaches.
Survivors include his daughter Robin Bates, and her husband Robert, of Missouri; 6 sisters Pearl Beaulieu of Middletown, Gwen Cavaca of Tiverton, Donna Smith of California, Joan Almeida of Fairhaven, Linda Langlais of Little Compton, and Ann Lachapelle of Tiverton; 1 grandson Joshua Bates and his wife Julie of Missouri; two great grandsons Jacoby and Jrue; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife Beverly (Wordell) Travis.
Jimmy was the brother of the late Bruce Cavaca, Josephine Furtado and Faye Costa.
Per Jimmy’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
