Obituary

Worcester – Patricia M. (Reidy) Murphy, 81, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Patricia was married to the late Irving John Murphy III who passed away in 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Young of Worcester and Nada Young of Worcester; two sisters, Nancy Hood of New York and Maryann Woods of Gardner; a brother, Gerald Reidy of Rutland and his wife Evelyn Reidy, a brother Michael Reidy predeceased, and sister Terri Pakish, predeceased and her husband Keith Pakish; 2 grandchildren, Bryanna Young and Robin Young; a great grandchild, Alice Vigeant and nephews and nieces.

Patricia was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Leo G. and Mary H. (Pierce) Reidy. She graduated from the former Commerce High School and lived all of her life in Worcester.

Mrs. Murphy worked for Worcester State College for many years as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She loved to be outside working in her flower and vegetable gardens, reading a good book or taking day trips to the casino. Patricia was truly the happiest when she was able to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They always brought great joy and happiness to her whenever she was with them.

Funeral services are being held privately with burial alongside her husband, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery – Bourne, MA. Memorial contributions in memory of Patricia may be made to Veterans Inc. 69 Grove Street Worcester, MA 01605.
